You make a beautiful quilt top. You love it! But you have no idea how to quilt it? I often feel this way. Here’s what I do when I’m stumped by the phrase; quilt as desired.

First I look through my Pinterest board for Free Motion Quilting. Nothing like Pinterest to get your creative juices flowing. I also pull out the books I have on free motion quilting. They are always good for an idea or two. Here are a few of my favorite. You can find them here.

Next I grab my sketch journal. Drawing out designs helps me see how they will look. I’ve even used clear vinyl over my quilt with a marker to see if I like the plan I’m creating. All of this helps my muscle memory for when I actually go to them on my quilt.

I recently learned about HollyAnne’s quilting challenge. I’m so excited about it. It is during my birthday week. So I’m giving it to myself as a present. It’s actually free. But I still think it will make a great present. You might want to check it out as well. It may not be free for long. So don’t miss out.
