Yesterday I started a piano key border for my Love Ida Quilt. I thought it was the way I wanted to finish this quilt. But the more I got done the busier it got and the less I liked the idea.
I thought if I continued the green diamonds. Giving a little more space for the eye to rest that it would be better. I like it.
But I also like it this way.
What are your thoughts?
It does not need the piano keys. Let your blocks tell the story.

Sorry piano keys too busy, they distract the eye to much. I like the grey,diamond border best.

No piano keys. The dark border and diamonds is my favorite. Can't wait to see the finished quilt.

I like the second one best. Great quilt. I like the diamonds in between the blocks.
The gray background really makes the blocks stand out best.
Well, the piano border is too much, but only the diamonds look a bit dull, because the border is not reflecting what is going on in the blocks.
There is always one perfect solution at least, for each individual person. And everyone may have another favorite. Perhaps I would cut little halfs out of the piano border to use it in another strip inbetween the diamonds. Don't know which way they should face right now.

I'm sure whatever solution you choose the quilt will be perfect and special. The colors are all so cheerful.
while i love piano keyboards…. i think this quilt is complete with just the green diamonds added.
it did need those though…
having said that…. to compromise, maybe you could make a multi coloured binding to frame the whole thing??

I like the final version — charcoal and no piano keys. But that means that you will have four beautiful, straightened-up strings of piano keys that you will need to figure out how to use. (Too pretty to hide in a pieced back, I think.)

I love the idea of the piano key border as in photo 2 but maybe add a thin border of the grey ( looks grey) inbetween the green diamondsborder and the piano keys. I would bind in the grey aswell xxx
