If you remember in the beginning of January I started a little exchange. I didn’t get a big response but two dear friends took me up on it. I have received my first blocks and I am so excited. By the end of the year I will have enough blocks for two quilts. Karen and I decided to do red and yellow blocks. Hers is the one on the right. I think I went to dark with my yellow but I’m thinking that in the overall quilt we will be okay. Karen’s block of course is just wonderful. My other BFF is Needled Mom. We are doing a blue and yellow quilt. Here are her beautiful blocks. She went the extra mile and sent me two.
And here is the block I sent to her.
I also received this kind award from Anita. Thank you Anita that was so nice of you.
There are a few things I have to do now. 1. Thank Anita, so many thanks Anita, This was so nice of you. 2. I have to past the award onto my blog. 3. I have to link the person who nominated me. Make sure you check out Anita blog. 4. Tell 7 interesting things about yourself.
a. I love to sing and dance to the radio. I’m sure I have put on a good show at several stop lights and know I have embarrassed my children more than once. But it makes me happy so I don’t care.
b. I am not a great house keeper, hence the motto “Creative clutter is better than tidy idleness.”
c. I like a good book. Reading relaxes me. It reminds me of when my dad used to read to me. And that is a good memory.
d. I love that my children are creative. Even if that does add to the clutter in my home. I love their pictures on my fridge, their pottery on my counter, their metal sculpture by my front door, I even like N’s neon green room.
e. I like to write; poetry, in my journal, and here on my blog.
f. Whether or not she knows it my mom is the one person that can always cheer me up. Just to hear her voice brightens my day. If I am discouraged I just call her. I seldom tell her my worries and concerns. (She hates that about me. Me, I hate to be the bearer of bad news.)
I don’t know how interesting these little things about me are. But they are me.
5. Nominate 7 blogs. I am not good at this I would hate to leave anyone out. So if you follow this block consider yourself a beautiful blogger. Because you are the ones that make blogging fun for me. Just knowing someone is reading all this gibberish I write means the world to me. Thank you. 6. Post links to the 7 blogs. If you would like to meet some beautiful bloggers click on their pics on my sidebar and go meet some truly wonderful people. Pick 7 or more.
Gosh those are two great blocks she sent you! Do you know I've never been to Needled Mom's blog? This is fun but I'm getting sidetracked again. hee!!! I love the strips she used in her block on the left, too. Wow! That's snazzy. Great great blocks. How fun this is. Now, as for the award, you are a beautiful blogger so I'm giving three cheers for you there. I love that you like to write. I did know that about you but far be it from me to point that out. hee! (oh, and thank goodness another not so great house keeper – not nasty dirty just cluttery!)
Great blocks Em, and thanks posting a little bit about you! I am like you in you "a" and "b"! lol!
You N's green walls remind me of the sun yellow I had when I was young… The color I picked out of course! 😎
Happy stitchings!
I admit, I am not participating in your exchange. I'm not much of a quilter but I'm glad I did my one quilt and I love quilting blogs and quilters themselves. And I'm so happy that you are sharing the exchanges anyway…they make me smile. I also liked the interesting things you wrote about yourself…they also made me smile…hugely! Just one thing though….TELL YOUR MOM! Tell her every day!
I loved reading about you. I can certainly relate to the collection of your creative children. I still display items that my kids made for me. They are always amazed at what I have kept.
Glad you enjoyed the blocks. I was playing with the two of them and thought I'd send both. I'm looking forward to having the darks with the light blues. They are much better in real color.
