I’ve been busy working on things I can’t show at this time so I thought I would share some great old quilts that were shown at my last quilt guild meeting. I like to draw inspiration from old quilts when creating new ones. I know that others do too. So here is a little inspiration. I think this would be so pretty in some Kaffe or Amy Butler.
Two tone quilts always strike me. It just amazes me all the interest that can be created with just two colors.
This stunning double wedding rings makes me want to grab my scraps and go to town. This quilt is on my someday list. Oh that there were more hours in the day.
What vintage quilts have you seen recently that have inspired you? I would love to hear abou them. Please share.
That top one is amazing — I love how the pink points in some of the stars disappear against the background. It makes the whole quilt more interesting and energetic. As for inspiration, I love the old Amish ones.
Gorgeous quilts. I have three of my grandmother's quilts and one of them definitely gave me inspiration. Because of the Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt she made, I am now making one of my own 🙂

Well I have all those great res and white quilts from the NY exhibition dancing in my head but I do want to make a schooolhouse quilt in red/white!
Beautiful old quilts! I have always been taken by the GFG patterns, Crazy quilts and Nosegays. It would be hard to select a favorite.

Hi, I'm trying to make your checkbook cover but I'm stuck. It says to sew a 2 inch triangle of background fabric that has been cut on the diagional twice on either side of a 2 inch roof triangle. Ok so I followed directions but it doesn't have the background fabric cross over at the top so when I sew it to the next piece I will lose the peak of the roof! Help please! Thanks.
Ah, you remind me that I have not shared any of my vintage quilts lately. They are mostly from my husband's family with no geneology beyond that, but I really enjoy them and should share more.
I, too, LOVE Two Tone quilts. Orange You Glad is my current project. My aunt loves orange, so there is all the motivation I need to use a color outside my comfort zone.

Every Sunday I pull an "old" quilt book and imagine the colors differently. My draw to a pattern is all about the colors. If I cannot get past the colors in the book then I pass on that pattern. Thankfully, I have a great imagination and love a challenge…
