Life has been a little busy around here. It’s spring and time to get bustling. Each day seems to be jammed packed with things to do.
The snow finally decided to stop snowing and the sun came out. It’s already April and near the end of it at that. My little garden had not been planted. Although to early for peppers, tomatoes and squash. It was way past time to get my cool weather crop in. I love broccoli! It is one of my all time favorite veggies. I needed to get it growing so I could enjoy it fresh. Nothing better than fresh veggies from the garden. I also planted lettuce, beets and a cabbage DD brought home from school. 
It was also time to teach another artist at DD school this time we did Rosa Bonheur. The children got to choose whether they wanted to make a dog or a cat. I taught them a simple way to draw each one. We practiced ways of making fur; short and bristly or long and soft, all one color or with spots. DD chose a dog. Hers is below. She was afraid she could not replicate the dog she drew on her practice paper so she cut it out and mounted it on her paper. It’s our Bell, that passed away this past winter.
I was given some fabric in March to make a charity quilt for May. I needed to get going on that so this is what I came up with. I wanted to try some wonky log cabins. It was a fun experiment.
Also in my quilt guild on our birthday we are to make a charity quilt. My b-day is fast approaching. So I grabbed my Friday Block Party blocks. Added borders to the ones that were not 12″. Stuck some sashing in between and here is the result. Now I need to get these two quilts quilted and bond.
Also this weekend my neighbor’s sisters and friends came down from Idaho and Wyoming. They are all avid quilters. I remember when we first moved her and Pauline brought dinner to my family she had quilters pins in her shirt. I asked her if she quilted. Yes was her response, how did I know. I pointed out the quilter’s pins. Needless to say we were fast friends. Well I was working on a new design and took a block over to show all these wonderful ladies. They were so excited and wanted to make the quilt. So I rushed to get a top done. (It still needs borders) But they helped me test the part I did get done. Here is a sneak peak of things to come.

love that you were able to get a couple of charity tops done — using the friday block challenge for that is a wonderful idea.
It was 90 degrees here today, but seeing your post made me feel a little bit cooler…I am happy just not adjusted to it yet.

You are right, with spring it does get much busier! It looks like you are in the thick of things. Lots of good outdoor and indoor projects!

Your quilt tops look great! I love how you put all the Block Party blocks together and I like the wonky log cabin one too. I also got my hands dirty last week. I love planting stuff. But here it is still a little early to plant anything except some lettuce and other cool temperature veggies.

Lots going on in your neck of the woods I see. I like the dog drawing and think it shows some real talent there. The fabrics in your new design are great, can’t wait to see what you are doing with them.

I’ve been out of the loop a little, sorry. Love your log cabin! And what a great thing that the guild asks people to make a charity quilt for their birthday. Very nice idea — kind of like the Hobbits who give gifts to others on their birthday because they are glad to be alive.
