I know life is busy for everyone these days. So much to do. So many places to be. We run faster and faster. The last few days have seemed to be especially busy. Hence the skipped blog post. Wednesday I got a call from Christian’s mom. She had all his t-shirts and wanted to make a quilt to display at the funeral, but she didn’t have time. Could I please help. How could I say no? I knew I would be leaving in two days to teach at a retreat and time was of the essence. I also know that I have wonderful neighbors, several who sew, that could help.
First thing I watched a youtube video on t-shirt quilts. Then I walked down and picked up the t-shirts and got busy cutting them out and fusing interfacing to them to keep them from stretching. Figured out a layout and by dinner I had a top. Because I was leaving I called one of my quilting neighbors to add borders and a fun jumbo ric rac trim. It will be displayed as a top at the funeral and I will quilt it when I get back. I’ll show it then as in my rush no photos happened.
Once Christians quilt was in the good hands of my neighbor I got busy sewing prairie points on this fun little flying geese quilt. I use TOAR and had a few of my friends help me with the paper at my Flaming Gorge retreat.
I’ll be using it in my class this afternoon on No More Boring Borders. Got to run. I need to be leaving if I’m going to be in Blackfoot in time. Busy Busy. Good luck everyone with your busy day.
What a bright and cheerful quilt.
What a beautiful, colorful quilt. I love the border.
That's a great quilt. I am looking forward to seeing the t-shirt quilt.
I like that the tee shirt quilt became a neighbor project. I'm sure it will bring comfort to the family and makers of the quilt.
I love the new quilt. So bright and happy. What wonderful fabrics. Love the prairie points!!
