Christmas is Coming

We are half way through November, how did that happen?  Christmas is next month and Santa’s elf is a little behind filling Santa’s shelf.  This weekend I got busy and made a small dent to remedy that problem. I dived into my scrap bins now full from my latest projects using Little Miss Sunshine and Vintage Picnic by Moda. I made my block for our guild present.  Isn’t this spool block the perfect signature block?  I still need to sign mine. Everyone is making one for her and she will receive them all packaged up at our guild meeting, enough to make a whole quilt.

Next up I made a happy little pin cushion.  What sewest can’t use another pin cushion?

Then it was on to a winter themed table runner.  Not quite done with it but we are getting close.  Just a little more quilting and a binding.

Finally I made another batch of soap. I have a few more batches I need to complete in the next week or so.  It takes 4-6 weeks to cure and by my calculations if I’m to have them in time for Christmas I better get busy.

from top left clockwise Aloe Eucalyptus, Cinnamint, and Pumpkin spice.

Trying to decide what sent to use is a lot of fun. I’ve made Aloe Eucalyptus to give maybe not for Christmas but when someone catches a cold or the flu.  The pumpkin spice an cinnamint smell yummy.  I was hoping the cinnamint would turn out more red, but it’s pretty none the less. I think the next time I do the pumpkin spice I will do more cream and less brown in the swirl.  Apparently there is a learning curve in soap making too. For my next batches I’m thinking a gingerbread, hot cocoa, and Christmas tree would all be fun.  What would be your choice?
