Trying something new can be so many things. Sometimes it is scary. Sometimes exciting. Often it is a combination of both. That is how I felt when I saw that these circles where the new block for Cancer is Sew Done. They looked so great, fresh and new. But they were circles and I worried that I would be able to make a true circle and have my block lay flat. But the tutorialwas simple to follow, and I love how my blocks turned out. Two for the Lotus group
And two for Alex’s Lemonade Stand group. I think I see many more of these in my future.
Also in my future are ideas gleaned from this AWESOME book. I’ve had this on my wish list for my birthday coming up in just over a month. But when I saw it at JoAnn’s and I had a 50% off coupon I could not resist.
There is such beautiful eye candy in here. So many exciting ideas. I wish I had more hours in the day to sew. There is just so many fun things I want to try. Weeee let the fun begin.
The strippy circles are beautiful. I have made a couple of wall hangings with circles. On one I zigzagged them down and one I hand stitched. I found it helpful to sew the circle to iron-on interfacing, slash the interfacing, turn it and then iron it on to the block before zigzagging it. It made a neater edge and there were no pleats, which was a problem for me before I used the interfacing.
Those are beautiful! I'm going to check out the tutorial now, because what I really need is another project to work on! 🙂
Those are really beautiful. Circles are always so intimidating, but you tackled them beautifully.
I love your circles. I've been thinking about doing something like that. Circles seem to be really 'in' right now. The book looks interesting too. My birthday is coming up. Perhaps I should add this to my list.
I just joined a quilt group and you are solving my one problem with it every time I pop by!
I am so disciplined – after being a terrible finisher I made myself learn to only have one project on the go, which means that I rarely would have a project to work on at meetings. You are such an inspiration and offer up so many great ideas – the maverick stars got used and I am in love with the stripy circles, plus once I get a ruler and cutting mat small enough to transport I will be beavering away at scrappy binding!! Ta very much!!
I got this book from amazon yesterday and sat down and read it one sitting today–I cannot wait to get started!! I also got the one she wrote with Freddy Moran…collaborate again and it's wonderful too! Your circles look great 🙂
Strings made from circles! I'm loving them.
Oh…round things…great!!! I love these Em!!!
Great blocks Em! Love the fabrics! 😎
50% off on the book!?! There is no way to have bypassed that! Good for you!
Happy stitchings!
Those circles are wonderful! I am scared of circles because of the ruffle effect, but yours are so beautiful. I think I need to get that book. I keep hearing such wonderful things about it.
