I live by the motto ‘Creative clutter is better than tidy idleness.’
But there comes a point when all the clutter puts a damper on the creativity.
And you have to take a moment to clean up a bit. So the fun can start again.
After a week of Christmasing in my sewing room I had reached that point. Saturday I tackled the problem. Cleaning off my cutting table and sewing area. I even went through all the bins of donated fabric for Happy Chemo and unused craft items. Organizing and eliminating unneeded and unusable items.
Putting away all the fabric that was strewn about.
I now have a empty design wall and I’m ready to play again.
Let the fun begin!
Well, have fun playing, perhaps with new toyes.
Greetings,
Sylvia
Creative clutter is just proof that we're making progress! lol I get what you mean about reaching the point of having to clean up though. Fun to see that your design wall is covered in threads as well, even when 'clean'!
Good for you! I needed that particular bit of inspiration today!
I really like your motto but I totally agree that sometimes you just have to neaten and purge.
Cleaning is good for the soul. Are you still taking Happy Chemo quilts?
I hate it when it gets to the point where I have to stop and do the cleaning before I can proceed.
Your motto has been mine since college days when I bought a little sign with that quote! Yep….make a big mess…then clean up and begin again!
I need to clean my space up too. I think the Tasmanian devil blew thru. LOL
I understand the clutter then clean up. I haven't been in my sewing room in several days…maybe it's the clean up I don't want to tackle. Can't wait to see what goes up on your design wall!
It must be that time of year, I realized that in order to work on anything I have to clean up lots of stuff first. When I tell family members not to go into my sewing room because of the shame, I know its time to act.
I need to clean up my creative mess too! Thanks for the inspiration.
I can never keep my sewing room clean for very long.
I love your motto. I think it applies to my whole house! But I do agree there comes a time when my sewing area is too messy that it cramps my sewing style. I usually have a massive clean up in the bonus week of the year, the week between Christmas and New Year. This year I may be able to sew in that week because I cleaned and tidied up earlier.
