I have hit a plateau. I run and run on the elliptical. I did it everyday last week and although my clothes are fitting better the scale shows no change. Where does this plateau end? How much further must I run before I find the edge and descend once more? Hubby keeps telling me it will happen. Just be patient, not my strong point. GRRRR this is so frustrating. On to happier things, DD made me a surprise this weekend. She told me to stay in my sewing room, not a hard thing to do, she was working on a surprise for me and didn’t want me to come out and spoil it. So joyously I fulfilled her request. Her and her friends made me a cake. Wasn’t that so sweet of them. Now these kind girls are ages 6-8. And have not had a lot of baking experience. Big brother J helped them with the oven. They did all the mixing. They got the amount of eggs right but DD was not sure how much oil or water she put in. The cake is much appreciated but not even the brothers would eat it. DD even admitted it did not taste good. But I so love how she tried. I told her I use to make things for my mom, and they did not always turn out. I promised to show her pictures when we went to visit grandma next month.
DD also thought this was pretty neat and thought I should share it with you. We cracked an egg this weekend and found a double yoke. So for the joy of a sweet little girl I am sharing it with you.
Hope you have a great day!
you may just be building muscle with all the working out, and muscle weighs more than fat. It’s about how you feel and how your clothes fit, so you sound like you’re on the right track. do I get that purple FQ now?
It will happen… So I heard, that it does not show until suddenly.. What a great cake! I used to do that to, but I don’t think there is a picture…
Plateaus happen, it will work out!
And the cake while it may not be edible is still a wonderful thought!
Your hubby is right… it will happen! Don’t lose hope only weight. Keep on keepin’ on! What a wonderful thing that your DD did for you. Very thoughtful and sweet.
You have such a sweet girl! It will happen – just keep going, how great that your clothes are fitting better! I hope that encourages you 🙂
I think that plateaus are pretty common. The important thing is that you are working out and getting in shape! Doesn’t it feel great that your clothes fit better? Remember that muscle ways more than fat, too.
How sweet of your daughter to make you a cake!
so sorry you’re fiding your weight plateau a challenge…. I think most people do 🙂 One thing a dietician once shared with me was that most household scales have a spring inside that’s part of the working mechanism. Over time it gets stretched, and sometimes “lies” because of that. Then suddenly, when enough of a change has happened in your body, it suddenly is no long stretching to the point that’s problematic on it… THe lesson I took from that was when I was sure I’d lost weight, when I absotluely “had to have lost weight” I’d go check out scales at the store, and then ignore any of the weights they gave if they didn’t read “right” as “oh its a different floor and stuff, it must be out” 🙂 hehe the lies we tell ourselves….
Sorry the pounds aren’t budging. That is frustrating. Hang in there and keep doing what you know is right and you will see results. What a cute little girl you have! How fun that she wanted to bake a cake for you. So cute!
Yup! Plateaus happen… 8-(
This too shall pass… 😎
What a sweet girl to have made her mommy a surprize!
My kids thought double yokes were neat at that age too…
Happy stitchings!
Isn’t it so frustrating when that weight plateau won’t budge!
but you must be feeling really well and fit,
How sweet of the girls to make you a surprise..it’s the thought that counts..
hang in there Em..

Hi Em! Don’t trust those scales! Weight is only one small measurement of health. With every bite of healthy food and with every movement of exercise you are getting healthier! And you said it yourself… your clothes are fitting better – that means you are better fit! As muscle builds and fat reduces, weight won’t necessarily change, but those inches disappear!
Hurray! You are doing great!
BIG HUGS!!
Hang in there, it will happen. Just keep moving! And what a great surprise, to try baking a cake for you! That’s so sweet!
I share Brenda’s thoughts. New muscle will weigh heavier than the fat lost. As you build more muscle, you’ll start to burn fat easier and the weight should drop again.
Hang in there, I wish I was as diligent as you.
Plateaus are so frustrating — but you’re building muscle (which weighs more than fat) and burning off the visceral fat, which is the most health-damaging kind and which your body gets rid of before the other fat we have. So feel good about all the positive metabolic changes going on!
How sweet your daughter is (and so, too). And my friend, you know you must be building muscle but if there’s a question, you could always lay around and see what happens! hee! hee!
Good luck Em! I was doing really well and then hit a plateau myself…and then I ate all the candy I bought for props for my new Dye Candy shop. I added some pounds back 🙁 I guess I won’t be using candy for my props anymore.
You are doing the right thing by
keeping the exercice.
The body registers the efforts,not
the scale, remember that.
It will show “down the road”….
