Christmas is a time for festive decorations.
Picking out the Christmas tree. Now that is a great pastime. I remember one year my hubby picked one, chopped it down and when we got it home it was like the Griswold family Christmas. I was just waiting for a squirrel to run out of it. My dear sweet hubby said ‘It didn’t look that big outside.’
Christmas lights are always delightful. Except when you have to untangle them. by Kunderwood
But if you leave that job to the men in your life you are left with nothing but delight.
After the lights comes the decorating fun. All the memories that come from past Christmas’s.
All the ornaments that my children have made. The ones with their cute pictures as they grew up. My favorite ornament of all time is the angel Josh made when he was in 2nd grade. It takes it’s place of honor on top of our tree every year.
What favorite Christmas decorating memories do you have?
reminds me of one year we took kids out to a friends property to cut our own… it was so lopsided and stuff we had to use fishing line to tie the top of it to keep from falling over.have a great day
We've had to stuff 'too tall' trees in the house, too! Love that pickup with the tree in the back:)
Our fondest memories are the trees we used to cut down. They always trim them perfectly straight despite the way that the trunk leans. It is fine when it is rooted in the ground, but when you try to put them in the stand it doesn't work as well. I can't tell you how many times we had to tie our trees to the wall to get them to stand uo straight.
I love seeing my Christmas ornaments every year. This has always been my favorite thing. Even when I was a child, unwrapping each ornament I haven't seen all year, remembering where or who it came from. Some of them now are old and belonged to my parents when they first got married, some that my children made, all special.
Thanks so much for doing this every week, I look forward to seeing what you choose. Love this weeks choices.
Love thhe pictures. THey are great. I love the wonder of childhood and decorating the tree. One year we got our tree decorated and then went downtown to shop on the bus (me and my sister). When I got home I noticed the lights were on during the day on the christmas tree. I couldn't imagine who had turned them on. My sisters (older by 8 years) had come home for Christmas from college to surprise us. It was very sweet.
I loved the years we'd pick out a real tree at a tree farm with our kids but now hubby and I do artificial. I still have my well-loved ornament collection that has me reminiscing every time I unpack them and decorate the tree!
The very coolest tree I remember having was one year when we had an artificial tree in the living room – very formal, and BORING! I wanted a real tree in the family room but didn't have a lot of money to spend. I went to the local florist and found a "Charlie Brown tree" for $6.00 – it was six feet tall but the branches were about a foot apart. But with all the handmade ornaments and great big multi-colored lights, it was the prettiest tree we ever had!!
I love the ornaments that I made with my mom as a child and how are on my tree with my kids! They bring back great memories!
