These cute little scrappy stars were a thank you gift for me from guild members for the year I was president. They have been sitting in a zip lock bag
along with these fun pinwheel log cabins. They are from a bee I was in.
I know I had a plan for putting them together, but for the life of me I can’t remember what that plan was. They may have stayed in the zip lock bag had it not been for my list of 12 UFOs I made at the beginning of the year for my quilt guild. Each month a number gets drawn and you are suppose to move that project a little further along to completion. Wouldn’t you know that this month they picked this one. I guess I could just donate a fat quarter and not move it along. But just couldn’t bring myself to do that. I would so much rather have a chance at winning a bunch of fat quarters and have a project closer to being done. So I came up with a plan. I sewed the star blocks together. Put the pinwheels around in a border. They made a bigger border than the stars needed so I cut out a bunch of bright scrappy geese to fill in the gap.
I hoping to get them done today. I’m also toying with a piano key border beyond the log cabins. So although I was not to happy about this one’s number getting drawn. As a new plan forms for it’s completion I’m pretty happy indeed.
The scrappy stars are a great way to honor an outgoing president. I can see why you treasure them so much.
I like the stars! they would nice with some pinwheels and flying geese. can't wait to see what ay do with them.
Your plan sounds terrific. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Great way to get some flying geese in there too!
Love the blocks. We all have those UFOs don't we. I'm pulling those things out to work on myself.
