A while back Stephanie was creating these fun blocks. I loved them and asked her where she got her ruler. She couldn’t remember but told me to look at JoAnn’s. I looked on line at JoAnn’s and couldn’t find it. But at one of my many trips there I saw one. And as luck would have it I had a 40% off coupon so of course I had to get the ruler. Then my dear hubby got me the wonderfully inspiring book “Material Obsession II” and this pattern is in it. My dear friend and neighbor, the one whose son I made my ‘I’m a Maverick Star’quilt for, saw this quilt in the book and wanted to make it. She asked if I would help her. How could I refuse. It’s such a happy and fun quilt and she is such a dear friend. So I gathered the wonderful ruler Stephanie had told me about. So glad I found that. And some white Kona.
And and ice cream bucket of colorful strips. I’ve started sewing together alternating warm and cool colors.
I’ll post my progress Wednesday, when there is a little more to show. What has inspired you to start your latest project?
Oh I can hardly wait for update photos Em! Looks like a great project!!! What is the angle of the long point on your ruler? I have a similar ruler with a 30* angle…
Em what a pretty design – I have borrowed the Material Obsession book from the library just to enjoy the photos.
I think reading what others are doing on the blogs is inspiring ( and sometimes expensive as there are so many gorgeous fabrics available as well as interesting books, tools and gadgets) Sometimes I just go to my sewing room and pull out a box of fabric( there are quite a number of boxes to choose from) It is a less expensive way to play than going to the LQS.Other times I pull out the many quilt books that I have collected the last few years.
I will look forward to seeing your new quilt.
Regards,
Anna
I get most of my inspiration from wonderful bloggers like you!
I'm really looking forward to your Wednesday update. The ice cream bucket fabric looks yummy!
Alot of my inspiration come from fellow bloggers and the large library of quilting books I own.
That ice cream bucket full of strips looks so yummy! Can't wait to see how the blocks turn out. I have that ruler too, though I have yet to make a whole quilt from it.
Have lots of fun with the ruler. I think you may already have a name for this quilt. :o) Perhaps the Ice Cream Quilt.
This quilt is going to be so great! I can't wait to see the blocks made up.
Have fun with all those fun scraps. This will be a lovely quilt!
I think *YOU* just inspired me to start my next project! That's such a pretty quilt. I can't wait to see your progress.
Ah, someone else doing a Kaleidascope quilt. I love the scrappy look of this pattern and can't wait to see yours coming together. I have a very similar ruler – but mine is green.
I have that ruler. I love it.
