Half square triangles to dye for

By November 12, 2008March 31st, 2020Blog

You would think that I would be tired of half square triangles after my last project. But I’m not and after seeing some zig zag quilts out there in blog land I’ve been wanting to make one. I am trying for Christmas to make throws for each of my kids. N really likes brights and I have all these really cool fabrics I dyed in September plus some batiks left from another project. So I’ve been using my Nifty Notions ruler and making more 1/2 square triangles.

Pinning them to the pathetic design wall. Someday I will fix this. Some of the fabrics I didn’t have quite enough for the full zig zag effect but I do like how it is coming.

Thanks for stopping by. Let me know what you think. Have a great day! Em

I am impressed with the colors of your dyed fabrics. Really beautiful!! The quilt is looking great, but I do have to say I agree with you about the design wall 🙂

    Hi there
Thanks for your comment on my blog. I have enjoyed your blog and seeing your beautiful quilts. Quilting is something I have not done for years but would love to start doing it again. I especially liked your snowman quilt and the Family Reunion Quilt is so very special. I loved the carrot buttons you made too. I have made and sold food for dolls houses out of clay like that but have never thought of making buttons. Great idea.

I love the zigzag look. You are going to have some happy kids, come Christmas!
Wrap the flannel around a piece of styrofoam insulation. It makes a fantastic design wall.

great fun! I seldom cut traingles and sew them together for HST (I cut large squares and sew them across the middle before cutting them) and must say your beautiful design is almost enough to convert me 🙂

I have always wanted to do a zig zag quilt. I think about that and a star quilt all the time. So many quilts on my list. This one of yours is going to be great.

Beautiful colors in that zig zag!

I love batting as a design wall surface, looks like that’s what you have up there. I tape it to the wall using painter’s tape, which won’t hurt the wall as long as you don’t leave it up more than a couple weeks or so (at least that’s what the painters tell me).
