A few weeks ago my Aunt Valeen called to see if I could go with her on a quilt retreat. Her friend had canceled on her and she needed someone to drive with and share her hotel room. I was thrilled with the idea but had to check with my hubby first. Being the great man he is he said yes.
I was able to take over her friend’s classes. One I’m very excited about. I’ve been wanting to make this quilt for a long time. In my parents guest room, they have an antique quilt in this pattern. I wanted a more modern and masculine looks so I’m doing mine in blacks and whites with a touch of red. Here is my fabric ready to go for the class.
I will also be taking an embellishment class. The rest of the time I will be playing. Because I had so much fun making this little house blocks for a bee recently.
I decided to make some of my own. So I’ve packed my crumbs and Kona white scraps. I think I will make my houses with less white space. We’ll see how it goes.
Then I’m joining the crowd and making some scrappy trip blocks. I’ve cut lots of strips and can’t wait to start putting them together.
The fridge and freezer are packed with heat and eat food for my family. A schedule is written so hubby knows when kids need to be where. I’ve traded carpool days and I’m ready to go. WEEEEEE! It’s going to be fun.
You're going to have a blast. I can't wait to see what you create. Enjoy it.
I have three sets of guests coming in the next week, I wish I were running away to quilt instead.
The hopscotch pattern is lovely. Those fabrics should be wonderful in it.
Have a great escape!
Enjoy your get away!
How fun, nothing like a "surprise" retreat!
Sounds absolutely fabulous! Hope you have a great time and come home with a big smile on your face… and a finished top or two!
