Have you ever been so close to your goal you could taste it, but so tired you didn’t know if you could push through to the end? That is how I felt last night as I finished up the quilting on my DWR. I told my mom I felt like I was running a marathon and had hit a wall. But my mom being my best cheerleader pushed me on and I did it! THANKS MOM!!!
Next step to bind. I’ve spent a little time looking for tutorials on how best to bind the scalloped edge. I think I’ll use thisone. It has good step by step directions and their results looked the best. So I’m trimming the edge and after I finish my now late bee blocks I’ll figure out the binding.
I would like to do a scrappy binding but I’m a little worried about seams and the little divots in the scallops. What are your thoughts?
Maybe a binding from one fabric would add some calmness to the edge of the quilt.

Keep in mind you'll need to use BIAS-cut binding strips to go around all those curves. (If the tutorial you found doesn't mention that, look for another one!) You could use a different fabric for each binding strip you need to cut to go all around the edge, but cutting bias strips leaves awkward leftovers in the stash, might not want to do that with too many different fabrics, Any scrappier than that might be way more trouble than it's worth, because every additional seam will interfere with the bias flexibility.
I think you would be happy using the background color. It would be to busy using a scrappy binding. It would fight with the arcs.
I love the quilting on it, I would probably jump in and do a scrappy binding, I think it would act like a frame. It's such a fun quilt, scrappy would add to it I think.
Go with solid binding. You don't need frustration when you are so close to the finish.
It's a great quilt. Amazing actually. The quilting is superb.
Have you tried auditioning pieces of fabric against the quilt? I'd think a lighter gray than the background fabric might look nice – not too matchy matchy with the background but not competitive with the wonderful scrappiness of the rest of the quilt.
Love it and I LOVE scrappy binding. I would not try it on this though, you have all the seams along the edge and then several seams in the binding, I would think it would be hard to make it lay nicely. You will want to cut your binding on the bias anyway for the scalloped edge anyway. Secondly, I think a solid binding will give it a much nicer finish.

Your DWR is gorgeous! Love the scrappy colorful fabrics against that dark grey. I am sure you will select the perfect binding fabric. Good luck with the scalloped edge…way above my skill level 😉
