I finished this quilt earlier in the week and have tried all week to photograph it but the snow just won’t stop. So I braved the weather and shot my Happy Hour quilt in the snow. I don’t know if you can see them but little flakes are falling
I quilted little bubbles in an all over design. Just thought it appropriate for the title of the quilt.
As you can see it has snowed so much that the flower heads I left for the birdies to nibble on have been covered.
So for activity days (the activities I do with the 8-11 year old girls at my church) we made bird feeders. I think the weather kept many of the girls away. I was a little worried about getting the ones that did come home. It was practically a blizzard on Monday. Luckily I followed a snowplow up the hill and got everyone home safe and sound.
Anyhow, I had a bunch of birdie food leftover. So DD and her friend made a bunch of feeders for our yard. Can you see them scattered in the tree branches?
Now the poor little birdies won’t starve. Despite all this snow I’m not tired of winter. It is my favorite season. I think the snow is pretty. Besides a warm shower with my Sun and Sand Soap takes me to sunny places each morning. I can’t tell you how much I’m lovin’ the way it smells. I think at the moment it’s my favorite. Though I’m looking forward to Groovy Love being done next week so I can try it. Linking up with Sarah, Amanda Jean and Cynthia to celebrate my snowy finish.
awesome quilt, I love the bubble quilting
I agree – awesome quilt! The sashing is perfect on this
That must have been the storm we hit in the mountains this week! Your quilt looks beautiful in the snow.
The bubbles are perfect, and your quilt is a bright happy spot in all that snow! It's so pretty!
Love your quilt. I especially like that it is sashed in red. A very lucky and happy color, I love snow too but we have not had but a flurry or two in St Louis.
The red sashing is just so incredible!
Quilt photos in the snow – that's dedication for you! Like everyone else I like your choice of red sashing.
Congrats!! on completing your Happy Hour quilt. It looks AWESOME!!
I have the same problem! The weather has been too inclement (either raining or windy) to take nice photos outside – I have three finishes that I want to get shots of for my blog. If the sun has come out (and it should be as we are trying to have a summer here!) then it is not out for long and is then just too bright to get nice shots of the colours. Sigh. I'll get there eventually. We start back at school tomorrow so no doubt the weather will be perfect while I'm busy working with the kids – maybe I can make a lesson out of quilt photos LOL!
What a fun quilt. It looks so cheerful all nestled in the snow. The red goes great with all your scraps.
Happy Hour is beautiful! I love how the red sashing ties everything together!
Happy Hour looks rather vintage…a look I like. Hope you had a hot chocolate for your Happy Hour after traipsing around in all that snow. I'm glad we have hardly had any this year.
I have been wanting to make some scrappy hour glass blocks. Your quilt is so pretty with that red sashing. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
