It’s a Math Problem

I received this beautiful fabric from Anne to make her block this month for the Stitchin’ Bee. Here theme is the Math Curse. We are to make a block using math symbols. My oldest, Alex thinks this is way cool. He is studying mechanical engineering and just aced his calc. II class. Yes, I am a proud mother. He has given me some good ideas on symbols. Some I don’t know how would work into a block and have it have the modern look Anne is looking for. Here are some sketches of what I might do. I’m leaning toward the one in the middle. What do you think?

that is going to be a unique quilt. I hope she will post it when it is done, or she will send a picture to you to post.

Of those three, I like the middle one best. Had you considered using the infinity symbol (figure eight on its side)? It might be interesting, with one fabric for the background, one for the symbol, and another in the center of the figure eight loops…

Fantastic idea. I love the fabrics. I am sure your block will look great no matter which symbol you choose. And I love the fact that you sketched them on the back of a used envelope! That's re-using and it's great for the environment.

What a cute idea. Having math lovers at my house, too, I think any of the designs would work. Fun fun.

Love the symbols. Have you thought about the not equal sign which is a equal sign with a diagonal line running through the middle

    Love and hugs Gina xxx

Wow, this was difficult. But why don't use triangles, squares, sircles and rectangels? Or are they not math symbols?
