I thought you might like a tour of what is going on in my sewing room at the moment. First up, on the design wall are my Twist on Tradition blocks that have been arriving from all over the world. Everyone has done a beautiful job. Thank you ladies. At the sewing machine is my D9P. Some ladies at church have agreed to tie it so it can be donated to Happy Chemo. I’m real excited about that. I enveloped it yesterday and plan to day to stitch around the edge to finish it off.
At the cutting table is my mess from the coin quilt I showed last time. I really need to get that cleaned up. But right now it is living by my motto: Creative clutter is better than tidy idleness.
But soon it will need to be done so I can trim this one up that I just finished quilting and apply the binding. It’s my new pattern and hopefully I will have it ready to share soon.
What creative clutter do you have going on in your sewing room? I’d love to hear about it.
Love your motto! Ane your quilts in progress. I worked on a very small paper pieced block this morning – 6 1/2inches square. You would think that this wouldn't create too much a of mess, but my cutting table is covered in bits and pieces. I can't do anything until I clean it up.
im having a problem with my cats sleeping on my project piles! I have a scrappy double irish chain in blocks and a postage stamp in various stages of cutting, ironing and sewing… just a bunch of piles! I have 2 9 patch flimsies im going to quilt this weekend in another pile. and on my design wall i have 9 patch X's that im going to start as soon as i finish something else!
I answered your question about my creative clutter on my blog, just for you!
You're right. I did like that little tour around your sewing room. I love seeing all you have going on and your quilting is "whew!" great! I'd like to be able to quilt like THAT.
Fun to see your sewing room. Love those Twist On Tradition blocks. I imagine they are especially nice to you since they are from around the world. What fun.
You've got a bunch of lovely works in progress there! I've got one quilt ready to load on the quilting frame, and 'm trying to decide what pattern to use for another one – the fabric is picked out, just no pattern!
Love the blocks on your design wall! I'd hate to show my room right now, every surface is covered with projects and fabric, lol…and snacks to keep my strength up.
The fabrics in your D9P are so pretty, and I can't wait to see your new pattern!
"Creative clutter is better than tidy idleness." – I think I need to stitch that and make it into a wall hanging for my sewing corner!
My sewingroom is actually in my bedroom, so its a little cramped right now.
Working on three projects, yes i love creative clutter.
Project 1: Quilt for my neice's 2nd birthday……… upcycling fabrics and backside of the quilt is flannel blocks from shirts! Due March 2011
Project 2: Designed myself for my cousin's son's 2nd birthday (August 2011)Rainforest/Jungle theme with animals and monkeys and lots of small animals. Background is a strip pattern (some call it strippers mystery) with the greens and browns and maybe blues.
Project 3: Dog Clothing. My doggies, yes, I have 4 doxies (weiner dogs) and 3 of them love to wear clothes. Upcycling them from sweats/sweatshirts/stained clothing all found at thrift shops! They hate posing and measuring but love trying on the finished project (these are on going) hoping to at least make one new outfit, per dog, per month this year.
More and more ideas for quilts for later in the year!
Love your blog, i am new to it, but since we share the same nickname, EM, and hobby!

Love that sentiment, "Creative clutter is better than neat idleness" I think I may use that for my next mantra. Loved your wonky log cabin with the browns. What acheerful and nicely finished quilt. Beautifully done with the log cabin flowers. Jane
