Matyroshkas and More

When I saw these little cuties made by sycamorepictures I thought what a fun gift for my DD’s friends. I found a tutorial here. I cut out the pattern and made a foundation out of some cheap lightweight fabric I had because I wanted my matyroshkas to be scrappy. I took all the little pieces out of my newly organized scrap bins and had fun piecing the backs and fronts of these fun little dolls. My DD wants to embroider the faces on. I’m so excited that she wants to sew and I’m happy that she is willing to help with her friends gifts. We are planning on putting a little treat in the dolls apron, that is also a pocket. How clever is that? Also the very generous Becky from Patchwork Posse has given me a 3 month membership to Patchwork Posse to give away here today. She has also posted an interview with me on her blog. Check it out if you want to know a little more about me and my quilty obsession. To win just leave a comment on what gives you quilty inspiration.

I agree that inspiration comes for the blogs. I have been working on a couple of quilts that I saw on a blog. Thanks for all of your help.

My inspiration usually comes from reading my blog subscriptions. There are so many great ideas out in blogland that can influence what you would like to make next or 'someday'. I also look at nature…four seasons of possibilites! Thanks for the giveaway!

Can't wait to make a few of these for my granddaughters. They are so adorable and there are endless possiblities for those of us who have tons of scraps and need to use them up.

My gosh those are adorable! I love that you dumped out your newly organized scraps…LOL. That's right up my alley.
Quilty inspiratin comes to me from everywhere! Fabric excites, even after all these years. Not so much new yardages as parcels and packets of scraps! My fingers itch to get cut and sewing them into something I've just dreamed up. Like you did, with the dolls! Hugs, Finn

The dolls are adorable – I think I might have to make a family of them for my daughter's 10th birthday coming up this month! As for what inspires me – definitely the blog world. There are so many amazing quilty things going on out there to see. I am so glad to live in this day and time to take advantage of modern technology!
