Yesterday was another Meet the Masters day. The artist that I taught was Matisse. I enjoyed my time with the children so much. They really got into doing this project. My only regret was that we didn’t have more time. We took our inspiration from his Beasts of the Sea. I created this sample before hand. First we talked about positive and negative space. And how putting different colors in those spaces change the feel of the picture.
Then we drew a sea scape.
Then the fun began as we cut shapes for our sea scape. First I had them cut wavy lines in blue and green paper. Then arranged them on their papers.
Then they added other shapes.
I loved watching them get excited as their picture took shape. They really did a great job.
I want to take an art class from you!
This is so educational for them too. Great job.
You are so good to teach the children these things. So often in today’s world all the creativity is replaced by technology. Great going.
I love you scrap basket quilt. LOL – your house may have looked like a cyclone, but isn’t it wonderful to know that it is a welcoming environment that your children enjoy and enjoy having their friends in. Great job mom.
How satisfying it must be to inspire the young!
The fact that you can give of yourself in this way, that you have this quality within yourself, well I think it’s quite admirable.
Awesome fun stuff for the children! 😎
What a great art project for kids- I am not sure if I could explain it clearly enough for my little ones but they would love playing with cut up paper to make pictures.
One of my boys made me paper french fries and then made paper money with it when I asked him how much I had to pay him for the french fries… good deal for me – food and the money to pay for it VBG
Thanks for sharing your lovely idea Em!

Anna
