Since my theme for next year is ‘Scrap Happens Make a Quilt’ I thought it would be fun to have prizes be cute little packages of scraps. Fat quarters have been the main stay in the past. But I want to mix things up. So I’ve made a couple of fun little bundles of 56- 2 1/2″ squares. (That’s the number of 2 1/2″ squares you can get out of a fat quarter) And these mini jelly rolls. Also the equivalent of a fat quarter.
Our prize basket was getting picked over and like I said I wanted to do something different. We’ve talked of donating the remains of the prize basket and starting anew. I wanted to do bundles of love but I was too late for that. Does anyone know of a charity that could use sewing items? I welcome suggestions.
I gave many sewing items a few years back to Priscilla Hair. She is a quilt teacher. She made some trips to Haiti to teach women to sew craft items that could be sold to help them fight the poverty that they lived in. Priscilla took some items herself on her trips and managed to ship some. I don't know if she is still involved. She has a web site and there is contact info on it, if you are interested.

Do you have a Project Linus near you? They always love to have sewing items.
Course you could always do a giveaway too. There are a lot of people who would enjoy them.
Give them to your guild ladies to make charity quilts? Or a local church group or youth group. Check with the occupational therapist at the nursing home? or a rehabilitation unit. Love your idea for giving away scraps… lots of cutting though!
Have fun!
I've got nothing for you in the ideas category that hasn't been mentioned already Em…
Good luck deciding… 😎
I'm sure someone will find a use for those scraps. It's a great idea. I totally agree that scraps make a quilt, often the prettiest ones.
They would be great for neonatal quilts! If no one claims them, our group donates hundreds of premie quilts to the local hospital and we are always in need of scraps. By the way, I love the new look of your blog.
….????……my ideas have already
been mentioned!!
Love your new blog header…that's
a great looking quilt!
I was here yesterday and couldn't think of anything since I don't have a clue. Then I thought I come back tonight to read what folks had to say. …and to my surprise the blog is updated! Oh how happy my eyes feel. Pretty delightful. Diggin' it.
I would give them to groups that make charity quilts and then they will get used and to go a good cause as well.
