I’ve always wanted to do a trip around the world quilt. I found this tutorial that used 2 1/2″ strips to make a scrappy trip around the world. And since I love scrappy. And my 2 1/2″ strip drawer was full to over flowing I thought I’d give it a go. I used my brights because I’m saving the darks for sashing with my scrappy Dutchmen’s Puzzle. I sewed the strips together. I should have paid better attention to value. This doesn’t have a lot of contrast. But DD has claimed it for a doll quilt. So it has found a home. I think it could be a fun exchange and sew in at my quilt guild. I’ll show it to Denise and see what she thinks. Since she is my dear friend over exchanges.
I love the trip around the world pattern. I really love scrappy squares and this fits the bill perfectly. Nice job.
I love anything scrappy! This is so nice and soft looking. You used 2 1/2inch squares? So the quilt is about 2feet by 2ft. It will make a fantastic doll quilt!
Such a classic pattern. I haven't made one in years. I used to make that pattern regularly for baby quilts. I like the way you made it scrapppy. Fun!
I guess you could have paid more attention to value but it wouldn't be as unique as it is. I'll admit I peeked at this earlier in the morning and it made me happy and infused me with inspiration. I needed it too because I didn't sleep (night 2) so it was a rough go today… Anyway, this one made me happy.
Looks great! I love the effect as it is! 😎 Something I have yet to attempt at some point!
That doll is the luckiest doll… lol! 😎
In case you are wondering… package not here yet… 8-(
I've made both planned and scrappy Trip Around the World quilts and I learned exactly what you did — value is really, really important if you are doing scrappy! But this is an adorable doll quilt and it looks so springy.
Looks like a perfect doll quilt to me!

Looks great Em, wonderful idea for using up those scraps.
I have done MANY Trips and loved doing each and every one of them.. It is so fun to be able to use up scraps of color, prints, ect for one of these quilts. I have done both, organized/ colorized ones, and odds and ends, which to me, are much more interesting.. I love the colors on yours.. have fun on many more Trips around your world of sewing!
Blessings
