Moving it Forward

I made these scrappy trip around the world blocks a few years ago.  I had enough for a throw size and thought about making enough for a bed size.  That’s about as far as it got.  I never got around to making any more.

Many of my friends recently took a trip around the world class and seeing there lovely quilts made me want to revisit mine. So I pulled out the blocks and arranged them on the design wall.  After just finishing Josh’s full size quilt I was not in a hurry to quilt another large quilt.  And as it seems I need more masculine bed quilts anyway, and this one doesn’t really fit in that category I decided throw size was big enough. So I sewed the blocks together.

Now I’m wondering if I should add a border or just quilt and bind it as is.  I’ll do a little auditioning and then decide.

Now it’s your turn.  What were you able to move forward this last week.  We’d love to see your progress.  Remember to link back you can use my button if you like the code for it is on my side bar.

I was able to add another half row to my postage stamp quilt

Congrats on moving this one closer to a finish. I'd skip the borders and call it a flimsy…just for time sake.

A scrappy trip quilt has been on my to-do list for several years. It looks great.

Nice to see others are pulling old quilt blocks/tops out and finishing them off. At some point done is the key word for UFOs. Great job.

Love it as it is. The colors really get my attention. I think a border would detract from it.

I love the colors in your scrappy trip quilt.

Way to go to get out a UFO and get it closer to a finish! I'm not a border type of gal so I would go with it as is. It looks great without one anyway.

Hi, there. I found your post on Monday Making. Now I see you have a Linky party also. You have had some really nice finishes and the Trip will be fun whatever you decide to do.

I am working on some Mini Trip blocks also. I won some strips playing strip poker and we are supposed to make a quilt with them and donate it to our community quilts group. I decided on the Mini Trip design. I think I have four more blocks to sew together and then I can start laying them out. I like your blocks as they are much more colorful than mine. We are supposed to use what we received but I am needing to add some strips into the pot so that I can make a design that works for me. I am thinking I should grab some brighter colors as I really like your quilt much more than I think I will like mine.

A lovely scrappy trip quilt! I tend to prefer these without any borders, looking forward to seeing what you decide to do!
