Now that my scraps are all sorted and easy to find and use, I’ve done a little mindless sewing. This next year in Primary our theme is ‘I know the scriptures are true.’ As birthday gifts for the children we wanted to give bookmarks and scripture marking pencils. With that in mind I sewed strips together until they were about 6″ wide. I put this on top of some batting and a solid corresponding color on back and made a little quilt sandwich. I quilted this with organic lines running vertical through the strips. Then I took my rotary cutter with the pinking blade and pinked the top, bottom and one side. Next I cut them into bookmarks about 2″ wide. Now I have a rainbow of bookmarks ready to give to some pretty great kids next year.
Speaking of book marks, have you read any good books lately? I’m always looking for a good read. Next to sewing it is the one thing that really relaxes me. It’s what I do every night to unwind before bed. That and a mug of hot cocoa. It’s my weakness. I love hot cocoa. If you have a good read that you could recommend I would really appreciate it.

I am reading a book but it's not safe for public posting being as it's political in nature. You know how that goes… (it's historical but most definitely political)

I really like the short mindless reads of some once upon a time stories there are 4 authors that do it Cameron Dokey is the one that comes to mind. I really like her golden and wild orchid. They are all pretty good actually but those two might get you hooked ; )

A modern story of a naval officer, his wife and kids.. and what happens when there is a "mishap" on his ship…

Lovin' the bookmarks. The Number One Ladies Detective Ageny series is really good, but watch out for the other series by the same author (Alexander McCall Smith). Not nearly as moral or uplifting.

Clever idea the bookmarks! Read The Help, but don't tell me how it ends yet. I like to go back and reread favorite books every once in a while.

Love the bookmarks. What a great idea, and it seems fairly quick and easy. Maybe Christmas gifts for my DS's class mates. I am currently ready 'Amish Peace" by Suzanne Woods Fisher. It is a very interesting read.
Adorably cute bookmarks. Love the pinked edges. That's one I will have to remember. I just finished Eat, Pray, Love and a friend gave me The Help By Kathyryn Stockett but haven't started it yet.

That's a really good idea! I was just made Primary President in our ward and have been trying to think of something different to do for birthdays – I'm going to show this to the others in our Pres meeting tomorrow!

My latest read is The Host by Stephanie Meyer – but I'm really struggling reading it.
I would recommend reading "East" it is a good fairy tale.
Very clever bookmarks. Great idea. I have no idea what your taste is for fiction but I will recommend a couple: Old Filth by Jane Gardam and The Sweetness At the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley.
