I pulled out my wonky blocks yesterday and started to play.  First I arranged them in pinwheels.

Next I tried streaks of lighting.

 Also a fun spiral.

 Then there were wonky rows

 and finally wonky kites.

I had so much fun playing I’ve decided that this is a block I will have to revisit. So many options, like my free four all block, I will have to have more than one of these quilts. Linking up with Cynthia.

The spiral and pinwheels are my favorite! I can see why this is a block to revisit….it's fun!

I think the pinwheel is my favorite but the others are fun too!

The spiral and the streak of lightening are my favorite. I can fully understand about making more than one set of these blocks. There are unassuming blocks like this one that are so versatile and well worth making several times because of the possibilities.

Oh, I like the Streaks of Lightening set.

I wonder if you could mix them up – say, a pinwheel border around a spiral center? Fun block!!

  • Kaja says:

They are very versatile – have you settled on an arrangement yet?

I never have thought about all the ways this particular block can be set. I made a quilt a long time ago with this block and did the pinwheel setting.

I'm a Streak of Lightning fan. It looks perfect for me-not great at matching seams.

I like the lightning layout, too, but it's so fun to have such a versatile block, no matter what layout you decide on. I probably missed this in an earlier post of yours, but how is the basic block made? Is it imporved pieced and then squared up?

I think I like the first two the best. Well, the first three. Well, maybe the first four…
Revisit is right – looks like you could spend years having fun with this block. (/filing away ideas for later…)
