Patchwork Pumpkin Possibilities

It’s a new month and time dive into the possibilities of a quilt block.  It’s October and officially pumpkin season.  So let’s explore patchwork pumpkin blocks.  They are perfect to spice up your fall home decor.

Let’s start things off simply with a simple snowball style pumpkin.  This block is quick and easy.  Use it for a mug rug or mini quilt.

Next a nine patch pumpkin.  This scrap busting block is oh so cute. Dive into your orange and gold fabric scraps and with up a bunch for a cute door hanging or table runner.

Pumpkins make great Jacko lanterns.  Sew up a happy or bad Jack with your fabric scraps and this pattern.  Does your stash lack orange?  No need to fret, simply pick up a kit.  It include everything you need to make your choice of a happy or bad Jack, well except the batting.  If you have a piece of scrap batting laying around your set.  Or you could purchase enough for two wall hangings from the Fat Quarter Shop for less than $10.

Maybe you would like to make a cozy fall sampler full of patchwork pumpkins.  September Sun is loaded with pumpkin quilt blocks.  In addition there are falling leaves and happy sunflowers.  The pattern can be found inside Aunt Em’s Sew Along Adventure.

If applique is more your style try Indian Summer.  This festive fall quilt makes a great wall hanging or door hanger.
