. Lots of good sewing got done yesterday, being the first Tuesday we had our Quilty Hug sew in. Shelly brought back this simply lovely quilt, she had taken home last time last time to finish. This quilt has a sister quilt. The focal fabric in it has a light background and the sashing is black with yellow corner posts. I’ll show that next month, Marilyn has it and she is on vacation. We missed her. I won’t complain to much I did get the strawberries, pineapple, and asparagus she had in her fridge. She was afraid it would spoil while she was gone and felt bad missing our little sew in. We look forward to having her next month.
With the top done, Shelly decided to make a bunch of these scrappy nine patches from the strips I cut out here. I try to have several projects to choose from at each of our sew ins. Each nine patch has a sister in the reverse. We are planning on framing them and then putting them all together.
Do you remember these 16 patches? Ruth sewed them into rows with sashing. Hopefully next time this one will be a flimsy. Time to start thinking about how to quilt it. Any suggestions?
While all this great sewing was going on I went to work on a giant bag of scraps with the Accuquilt Go. I used the 2 1/2″ strip die and the starter die that comes with the 2″ square, 4″ square and 2″ hst. From the smaller strips I cut 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. I figure all these will play nicely together no matter how we arrange them. I’m looking forward to playing with them.
After the sew in I went to buy more bins to put these pre cut pieces in until I can find a little time to play. I have a bin for each size but it was too hard to take a picture that way. So the bins are just stacked here.
Lots of quilty goodness! Keep it going. 🙂
Those 16 patch blocks look great. It sounds like you are enjoying your cutter.
are you just cutting and then will decide later? – great scrappy stuff
Yes, mostly, though I do have a few general plans in my head.
