This weekend my hubby bought me some rotating shelving for our canned goods. I had been wanting one for a while so I was happy. The fact that he just set it right in the middle of my creative space brought on a totally different emotion. He said he didn’t know where I wanted it. Well, not there. After moving some stuff around we got it where I wanted it.
But my creative space looked like this when we were done.
So I spent today reclaiming it. I shelved the canned goods. Found a way to keep the batting, stuffing and pillow forms up where Spike can’t eat it. Found a home for my gelli printing supplies.
Moved my fabric and projects to sturdier shelving and placed my loom and soap making supplies on top.
Now I can get to my design wall. Let the creative juices flow.
I’m ready to play.
So happy for you! While the organizing can be difficult and time consuming, the benefits are so great. I look forward to see what you will be making in your newly "cleaned up" space.
I sure like what is on your design wall. I really need to organize better.
I was laughing when I saw the 'before' picture because I swear I had that same scenario yesterday…..and that was AFTER I thought I had cleaned up!! But a little more work and all is right with the world. Glad to see I'm not the only one who works in an unfinished area. My weaving "studio" (I have a floor loom) also shares space with my washer/dryer downstairs in the basement while my quilting studio occupies the only partially finished area of the basement. They may not be much to look at, but I love my spaces….and I'm betting you love yours, too.
I spy a vintage Bernina red case! Is that an 830 you sew on?
It is always nice to get organized so the creative juices flow better.
Looks good, Emily! I wish I had time to re-organize my sewing room – it needs it bad!!!
It's so much more fun to create when all of your supplies are within sight. Enjoy your sewing now.
Just look at all those clear tables, whoohoo!
Last weekend I bought an old ugly wood bookshelf at the Goodwill. After painting it and putting it into my art barn . . . well, you know . . . I had to move everything and rearrange so things were a mess for a while. In the middle of cleaning up the mess that I had made there was a knock on the door. My neighbor had out of town company and of course they wanted to see my art barn 🙂 That never happens when everything is neat and pretty, LOL.
I'm happy that you reclaimed your space and have room again to create:)
Yay for you! Always a good change to get our creative space more efficient!
Well done on getting this sorted. You certainly had an almighty mess there for a while but you've ended up with a great looking space to work in.
