Our upstairs shower stopped working. You could turn on the water full blast and be lucky if you got wet. There was no pressure. So I had no alternative than to call a plumber. Fortunately my friend’s hubby is one and he could make it on short notice. While he banged on the pipes I pulled out a couple of my drawers of strips. I have joined Stephanie’s No Strings Attached Challenge and found this the perfect time to begin. The mindless sewing relaxed me even as the hours passed and the banging pipes and clanking of tools continued. Finally several hours later my shower worked and I had completed all these fun strip blocks. Before I started on these blocks I could barely close my 2 1/2″ strip drawer. But I am working my way through it. By the time this challenge is done It should close very easily and I should have some lovely strip quilts. Just in time to relieve a little more stress I also received these pretties in the mail. I’m looking forward to using them. I have no plans but I’m sure as they sing, their song will speak to me and I will think of something.
I love the string blocks!!!! They look like they would be fun to do too.
Inspiration should come quickly with that new fabric stash.
Hope that the warm shower will feel good to you.
Those string blocks have a calming effect on me – how lovely… what a great way to de-stress! Have fun! And glad the shower was fixable without a big drama!
Oh Em! The blocks are fantastic. Superb, spectacular and sensational. However the shower, well that's, well actually that's turned out pretty spiffy having a friend and all. I completely dig seeing your design wall by the way – you know I do!!! Now those fabrics, golly what fun. A girl could really play there I'm thinkin'.
Sorry to hear of your plumbing problems. I am sure the shower will feel great when it is well again. Your string blocks are just beautiful! You are on a roll. I really should start relieving the stress on my scrap box too.
Your string blocks are looking gorgeous. I've had so much fun with mine, so I hope you have to. Very addictive but what a wonderful way to use up your scraps!
Great string blocks! Great time to start the challenge ! and wonderful new fabric. I hope your plumbing problems got solved and that it wasn't anything too horribly expensive.
I love the colors you put together for you string blocks. Did you pick that color scheme or just grab whatever came out of the drawer?
It is lovely. My 2 1/2" strips/squares box is overflowing too.
Oh plumbing problems…YUCK! I love your string blocks. That is going to be a wonderful quilt!
Sorry to hear about the shower – we often have water problems here and it is a pain!
Love the colours in the strippy – nice and warm!!
Do you use a backing of some sort for the strippy quilt blocks? muslin, batting, ect to anchor the strips on?
Your strings blocks look great so far Em! It is always nice to clean out a drawer, box, or bag of strips… 😎
Lovely mailbox pretties… 😎
