This Never Happens

It all started yesterday while I enjoyed a little quilty time with friends.  While Marilyn added the sashing around these cute heart blocks.

And Shelly put together these nine patches.

I started cutting pieces

for Suzy and Ruth to sew into Shoo Fly blocks

And I couldn’t stop.  Very unusual, as I hate cutting and see it as the necessary evil in quilting. But I kept cutting.  I cut these squares left over from the strips I used to cut the Shoo Fly pieces.

Then I cut into these texture prints I had sorted into a bag after I learned of Cynthia’s method of putting scraps together according to what she thinks will make a great quilt.

Though I don’t know what will become of them yet.  They are cut into strips that I can use my half square and quarter square rulers to cut them into squares and triangles that lend themselves will to many of Bonnie’s free patterns.  Who knows I may make keep going and make a serious dent in the quilty hug stash.

Great progress! I love your shoo fly blocks and have always wanted to make some of my own. Sorting scraps into bags works great and make starting a scrap project really easy! Almost too easy!!

Nice work! I'm a resistant cutter at times but finally learned to listen to Bonnie and get those scraps ready for use. I have her tumbler idea bouncing around my head. I need to get that rotary cutter going a bit!

I have been trying so hard to get my cut into usable pieces when I am finished with them. It's so hard to just start cutting. It's much more fun to sew.

How fun to work on projects with friends. I used to do that when I lived away from all my friends and they would come to visit. Wonderful sewing time.
