Tuesday Tutorial

The half square triangle is such a fun and versatile block

Sunshine on a Cloudy Day Pattern here

There are so many patterns that can be created with it.

Blowin’ in the Wind Pattern

There are many ways to make it. I’d like to share my favorite method today.

Mountain Retreat Pattern

Being a scrap quilter and not liking the cutting process the Nifty Notions rulers really appeals to me. I can have strips cut and get squares, hsts, flying geese, and hour glass blocks all out of the same strip. Today I’ll focus on the hsts.

First you place your strips right sides together.

Next line up your Nifty Notions ruler on your strip according to your size strip and cut.

Then you simply flip it the other way and cut again. Repeat the process for however many hsts you need. Easy as can be.

Then you just chain those pieces through your machine

And use in your next project.

I love that ruler too. That pincushion is beautiful.

There are so many possibilities with half square triangles! I don't like fiddling with triangles so I make mine different.
    I agree, that's a cute pincushion.

Nice tutorial, Em! My ruler is a different brand but it works the same, Omnigrid 96, but I like to stack 6 or 8 deep. Thanks for sharing!
