Don’t you just love a simple block that can be arranged in a myriad of ways? Half square triangles, log cabins, majestic mountains, rail fences all lend themselves well to this kind of play. My scrappy blue rail fences with the warm wedges added also play well.
Not quite sure what this block is called, but it sure was fun to play with. First I tried a streak of lightning look.
Then a pinwheel.
Then a strip with a wedge look.
and a strip with a more boxy look.
Finally a spiral.
Isn’t it fun to see how each arrangement changes the look of the quilt? Which one do you like best? I’m leaning toward the streak of lightening and pinwheels. Do you have a favorite block you like to play with? And now for the winners in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks blog tour.
For the two magazines available here; # 48- Vivian and # 44- Jennifer Ann Evans.

Congratulations ladies! Please send me your snail mail so we can get your prizes to you.
I'm with you on your choices. It does look interesting with that contrast of the brights and the blacks and whites. Has a modern look with good depth.
Congrats to your winners 🙂
I love all of the layouts especially the spiral.
I especially like the strips-with-wedge, #3
Wow!! I love them all! I hate to even try to pick a favorite.. I guess I particularly love the pinwheels but they are all awesome! What an awesome set of blocks!
Oh my gosh – how fun to see the various layouts. Each one is so cool – my favorite is the rail with wedge layout. Great use of color in these blocks.
I'm liking the spiral as it makes my eye move around the quilt
I'm voting for the last pic, spirals. A unique block is appropriate for a unique setting. It carries the movement within the block to the larger context. That's my half-cent's worth, lol.
That is a versatile block, I like all the layouts too.
What a fun block! Congrats to your winners!
Streak of Lightening is my favorite!
