I sent my DD off to girls camp yesterday. Sadly this year I’m not going. I do however get to do a day camp with the girls ages 8-11. I’m in charge of the crafts. How fun is that? I chose sun printing on bandanas. I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing so I made one in advance.
It made me a little nervous when the tutorial said to cover the entire bandana in dye. And more than thrilled when it worked. Here is my finished bandana.
Here is the video tutorial I watched to learn how to do this.
In addition to making fun bandanas you can do it on fabric. I would suggest fat quarters of untreated cotton fabric. It was very easy and I love the results. The hardest part was waiting for the fabric to dry.
I imagine the girls will love doing this FUN project and then they will have something useful to remember their summer. Lucky them and lucky you!
That looks really pretty. You and the girls are going to enjoy this project.
Ooooh thanks for that video–I LOVE that idea–I am using some really old sun prints that I did eons ago in a hand piece right now–what fun!! hugs, Julierose
That looks great! The girls are going to love this. Heck, I want to play and my camp days were long ago. Hope it all goes off without a hiccup.
That turned out really beautifully. I haven't made any sun prints, but I may have to fix that!
