A few years ago my quilt guild did a nickle exchange and I made this quilt, that I still need to quilt and bind. I’m hoping to do that in the next couple of months. Sorry the picture is not very good. I took it downstairs. This is only a quarter of it. This thing is huge.Amazingly I had left over nickles. A lot actually. I have a bunch I made into flying geese for a Dutchman’s puzzle. It’s in the block stage now. With the rest I cut into tumblers or buckets as my DD called them. I had seen a couple tumbler quilts in blogland and wanted to try my hand at it. I used them as my leaders and enders and it wasn’t long before I had this. Not bad for leftovers

I am such a Limey – I have no idea what a nickle exchange is, but the results are fabulous!!

I think fabric breeds in the boxes as no matter how much I pull out and use, there just seems to be more and I can't close the lid… I so look forward to the day when I can empty a box…

These quilts are great. The tumbler is one of my favourites, although I hand-pieced mine, I want to learn to do them on the machine, just a little wary of off-setting the seam. Suppose I will have to practice.

Love your new logos. Holly has done a great job!

That nickel quilt is just stunning. Too bad you couldn't get the whole quilt in the photo. But it is great that you still had leftovers! Just wonderful quilts.

    What is a nickel?

Love both quilts, and I too want to try a tumbler one of these days.

Hey, I saw your quilts at Quilter's Haven the other day, they are darling!

Wow, so much from one exchange! Isn't it amazing what you can do with leaders, enders, and a little organization?

I can see that the first quilt is quite large! A very good use of your "nickles" I like scrap quilts so much. It is always fun to study the fabrics and remember where they came from, etc.

Two wonderful quilt tops there Em!! Wonderful!
I gotta remember to do the leaders and enders with purposeful pieces like that!
What are these nickles you speak of?

Love your quilt! The tumbler one is lovely too! I guess I am in the 'nickle-naive' group. Are they 5in. squares? And what about the 'leaders' and 'enders'? Not quite sure what they are either.
