I found this cute coil fabric bowl on Radiant Home Studio. I thought it was a great gift idea.
One it uses up scraps, something I have a lot of. It is also very versatile. You could use it for notions, candy, change, keys, etc. And I think it is adorable. You can find the tutorial here. Now that it is November I thought it would be fun to include a recipe. We have an apple tree in our yard. I love the apples. It produces more than we can eat. So I fill the dehydrator with apples slices for snacks and the crock pot with cut up apples for applesauce. One of my favorite things to do with that applesauce is applesauce cake. My sister and I agree it is the best cake ever. Here is the recipe.
Applesauce Cake
2 1/2 cups flour 2 cups sugar
1 1/2 tsp soda 1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder 3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves 1/2 tsp allspice
1 1/2 cups applesauce 1/2 cup water
1/2 cup oil 2 eggs
1 cup raisins 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Measure ingredients into bowl and mix well. Bake at 350* for 40-45 minutes. Makes a 9″ x 13″ cake

I love these bowls. Haven't tried making one yet so I'm delighted that you shared a link to tutorials. 🙂 And my family ALWAYS has to have Applesauce Cake for the Holidays—thanks bunches for sharing your recipe with us. 🙂
I think I need to give those bowls a try. The apple cake looks delicious too. How long does it take when you make it in a bundt pan vs. the 9×13?
Pretty colors in the coiled basket.
I made fabric bowls with friends several years ago. They are fun to do!
Yummy recipe. Thank you. I used to make those baskets (they were called rag baskets at the time) in the early 1990s and sold lots of them. I used to buy the coil by the HUGE spool in various sizes. Mom used to make some so small they are Christmas Tree ornaments and I have a huge one I use for my Halloween candy. I love the scrappy version.
Thanks for the link to the fabric bowl tutorial. I always love coiled baskets.
