I had so much fun with my aunt last week. It was a nice get away and I learned a lot in my classes. The first class I took was Hopscotch taught by Sheri of A Quilting Life. It was nice to meet Sheri in person. I’ve read her blog for quite a while. She is a very talented lady and a great teacher. I’m thrilled with how my quilt is coming along. I’ve got almost three rows done.
Next I took an embellishment class from Kerry Green of Kerry Stitch Designs. I wish this class could have gone on and on. Kerry is such a wealth of knowledge. Her designs are so inspiring. This little sampler was what I was able to accomplish in class. I came home wanting to do more. I’ve visited my library’s website and put a hold on a bunch of embroidery books. The wheels in my mind are turning with ideas to add these cute little stitches to my quilts.
Finally, Mary Lou Blaser taught a sock monkey class she shared her pattern with me. Her class was full and I didn’t get to take it. But she told me there was a You Tube video that would walk me through it. When I told DD she couldn’t wait to make one. So within hours of being home we made this little guy.
My only finish from the retreat and it wasn’t even finished there. But I learned a lot, was inspired to do so much more, and can’t wait to put my new knowledge to good use.
Is there a website for this retreat. I feel like I totally missed out on it 🙂
And your sock monkey in pink is so stinking adorable!! Love it!!
Love your sock monkey! Hopscotch looks fantastic. That is going to be a terrific quilt. It's always nice to go away and learn new things.
Cute monkey! It was Mary Lou Blaser that taught the Monkeys. I love the black, white and red triangles! It was a fun week!
It was so fun to meet you! And I love your Hopscotch rows…they are absolutely stunning!
Love your Hopscotch quilt – great colors for that pattern!
Isn't Sherri the sweetest? I miss getting together with her now that I don't live in So. Utah anymore. and I miss Bonnie's retreat, too! Your classes look like a lot of fun.
Retreats are so much fun. It is a great place to learn and share when you are surrounded by other energized quilters.
