Beat January Blues with Bright Beautiful Quilt

Winter can be gray and dreary. Beat those January blues by creating bright beautiful quilts. I like to sew with bright colors year round but especially during the winter. They have a happy feel and cheer my heart as I sew.

This version of my Shooting Stars pattern is a perfect example of bright beautiful colors bringing a little cheer. The navy background makes the vivid colors pop. And what could be more fun than sewing scrappy stars? They will for sure lift your mood.

Stars Caught in a Web is another scrappy mood lifter. This spider web quilt didn’t make a dent in my strips bin but it sure was fun to make. It not only brought me joy as I big stitch quilted it in the infusion lab. But brought a smile to my fellow patients. Use my tutorial to create your own.

Seven Sisters is another scrappy strip quilt sure to bring a smile. Playing with the direction of the strip sets and a 60* wedge ruler creates these unique hexi style stars.

Tropicolia is not only fun to say. It’s fun to make. Learn how with my Pineapple block tutorial.

Home Run with it’s simple nine patches and colorful string blocks is sure to hit it out of the ball field. When it comes to lifting your mood this winter.

Lotus Flower, pattern found in the Dec/Jan issue of Quick and Easy quilts, with its pops of color and lots of negative space to practice your free motion quilting.

I can’t have a post on cheerful vivid quilts without including Sunshine on a Cloudy Day. The title says it perfectly. A rainbow of solids on a gray background will definitely bring a little sunshine to even the darkest winter day.

So grab your beautiful bold fabrics and beat those January blues with bright beautiful quilt.
