St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock quilt block tutorial

St. Patrick’s Day is around the corner. So a shamrock quilt block is in order. My brother was born on St. Patrick’s day, with red hair no less. I like to think of him as my leprechaun. So I have a special place in my heart for this holiday.

Last year I created this block as a pin cushion. This year my green scrap bin is overflowing. While these blocks don’t take a lot of fabric. I do have a good variety of fabrics. So a table runner or topper is on my to do list. You back it with felt. Add a pin clasp and wear it or pin it on a bag for the special day.

In addition to sewing lucky shamrock blocks I like to create fun food to celebrate the day. I found this happy idea on Pinterest. Plus a lot of other festive food ideas. To see what I found check out my Holiday Ideas board on Pinterest.

What fun things do you do to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? I’d love to hear. If your looking for something to do. Why not create a shamrock quilt block? Or whip up a bunch and see how lucky you feel. Here’s my tutorial to get you started. Make sure to share your blocks with me. I love seeing what you create!
