Simple Trick for Choosing Fabrics for Your Next Quilt

Do you struggle with choosing fabric for your quilts.  Do you have a mountain of scrap fabric but no idea how to combine it into a cohesive quilt?  Try this simple trick for choosing fabrics for your next quilt.

First pick a print you love that has a lot of different colors in it. Next go to your scrap bins or local quilt shop with that print and start pulling fabrics that have those colors.  Don’t worry about being to matchy matchy.  Feel free to go lighter and darker with the colors.

Your pull will look like this.Large print fabric surrounded by coordinating fabric scraps

I used this method to make my Citrus Spin quilt.  By pulling solids and vibrant prints to use to make the spiderwebs.  Then used the bold print I chose fabric from for the stars.

Where with Mountain Retreat I pulled fabrics from this print to make the mountains.

While choosing a neutral for the background.
