Add Utility to Any Project with a Patchwork Pocket

What’s the one thing that makes any project better?  A pocket of course. What makes it even better is if it’s a patchwork pocket.  And the great thing is that adding a patchwork pocket to any project is super easy.

I like to add pockets to my pants.  Not only is this a great way to add utility.  Like I did on this pair of thrifted pants that were lacking any pockets.  Patchwork pockets added to thrifted pants

Add a pocket can also be a way to show off your personal style.  I added a cute heart pocket to my jeans in addition to some visible mending. Girl wearing thrifted sweatshirt with applique and upcycled jeans

Another project you may want to add a pocket to is a bag.  Sure a simple tote is great for carrying your stuff.  But a pocket helps you keep things organized.  I’ve enjoyed making reversible tote bags with pockets.  Tote bag with crazy quilt pocket

An apron is another great place to add a patchwork pocket.

You may also like to add pockets to a pillow, a journal, or even a quilt.  Really the possibilities are endless.

Use my Quick Win Pocket pattern and any 6 1/2″ quilt block to add a pocket to your next project.  My sampler booklets are full of block options.
