Grab your green scrap bins or a rainbow of leftover fabrics and sew up a little luck with one of these festive St Patty’s Day quilts. You’ll find colorful quilts, funny wall hangings and sweet pin cushions.
First let’s head over the rainbow with two happy quilts. My Over the Rainbow quilt found in my Crumb Quilts book. With this quilt I played with bright solids and more low volume fabric. Making puffy clouds using a play on the drunkard’s path design.
Next is another rainbow style quilt. For this one I made four patches out of a my scrap bins in every color in the rainbow. Combining a medium to dark print with a lighter/ low volume print with a matching color. Next I cut the four patches to turn them into disappearing four patches. You can learn how to do that here. Once I had a good assortment of colors I arranged them so they made a rainbow.
Another St. Patty’s Day quilt is my Kiss Me quilt pattern. This quilt came about when my plans to attend a retreat were bumped up a day due to a snow storm. I needed an extra project to sew on since I would be there one more day. So I grabbed by green scrap bin as my new toy box. My hubby’s bold spot became my inspiration. Since I call it my lucky spot. It’s the perfect wall hanging for March.
Finally is you are looking for a simple project try these lucky shamrock pincushions. They are quick and easy. Plus they look cute in a candy dish or scattered about on a mantle. Learn how here.
