Simple Drawstring Bag: One Pattern, Endless Possibilities

Whether you are new to quilting or an experienced quilter looking for a quick gift idea.  The simple drawstring bag is a easy pattern with endless possibilities.  Designed to give you success in a day.

The simple drawstring bag is one of Aunt Em’s Quick Win patterns. Built around the blocks in her sampler booklets.  But they are not limited to the blocks you’ll find there.  Feel free to use anything from an orphan block to a simple square of fabric.  The original bag features the lollipop tree from the Summer Nights sampler.

I used an orphan block from one of my patterns to make this one for my grandson.blue drawstring bag with orange pieced fish block on deck with greenery

Because I love scrappy I sewed strips together for a colorful happy look.Striped drawstring bag

While I just used a scrap of fabric for my block.  Next I dove into my scrap bins, cutting the called for sizes to make the rest of the bag.

Scrap quilters may enjoy making a crumb block to use up their tiny pieces.  Another fun idea would be to add embroidery.  Get tutorials for my 5 favorite embroidery stitches here.
