Yesterday at the Quilty Hug Sew In I started these fun scrappy plus blocks. You may remember a while back I did a post on color ways.  One of the ways was a scrappy background. I showed a big pile of blue and gray scraps. I have since cut all those scraps into 2 1/2″ strips. My 2 1/2″ strip cutter for the Accuquilt Go made quick work of that. I then sub cut them into the sizes needed for this block. Slowly the blocks are adding up. I’ve already got a third of them done.

Lots of other cutting and sewing got done yesterday but I didn’t get pictures. However this little cute scrappy quilt was finished. It features Jen Kingwell’s Beach Road line. We used Sarah’s method for turning layer cake squares into 16 patch blocks. Then set them off with hour glass blocks in blue and green.  Did you know that Fat Quarter Shop’s basic of the month is Kona Solids?  It’s a great time to stock up. I did a little stock up myself. Don’t miss out!

Some of my favorites to keep on hand are snow, honeydew, butter, and steel. They all make great backgrounds.
