I love that slow fashion and zero waste are trending now. As a scrap quilter and thrifter it makes me happy that people are seeing the value in making due. Especially since I’ve recently become a grandma. I don’t want to leave the world worse than I found it for my grandbabies. So today I thought I’d share the fun I’ve had sewing up handmade bags from my fabric scraps.
First I made these cute zipper pouches for my daughter and her friends a few years back. They have a little pocket for ID and debt card. And a zippered area to keep other personal items.
Next I made this courier pouch. I wanted a little something to take to church. It’s just the right size for my phone and journal. Later I made one that is bright and bold. You can find the pattern in my new book, Scrap Quilts.

My son’s girlfriend was making simple bags to wrap gifts in. I really liked this idea These easy circular drawstring bags make the perfect gift wrap.
I’ve also made some on the go drawstring bags for kids to put their treasures in. As an added bonus I made the pull strings from scrappy fabric strips.
Even more handy for keeping kid treasures are these drawstring backpacks. Follow the link to the tutorial.
Before goin on my first cruise I made a handy fanny pouch. So I could easily carry sunscreen, lip balm, sunglasses, etc.
