Simple Drawstring Bag from Scraps

Are you ready for another simple project? Grab your fabric scraps, orphan blocks and get ready to make a simple drawstring bag.  It is quick and easy.  Choose to keep it simple with larger scraps.  Or give it a scrappy look by incorporating orphan blocks and patchwork.

You’ll want four panels all the same size (two for the outside of the bag and two for the lining) twine or ribbon for the drawstrings (I used fabric twine), thread and a basic sewing supplies. These are so quick and easy I’ve already made three all in an afternoon.

For the first bag I used a layer cake square for the back of the bag and a tree block from my Summer Nights quilt.

With the second bag I sewed fabric strips together for a striped back.   The front I used one of the town homes from the Summer Nights quilt.

For the third bag I once again used a layer cake square for the back.  The front I framed a fish block from Smooth Sailing and framed it log cabin style to get it to the size I wanted for the bag.

Watch for my upcoming video tutorial.  I look forward to seeing how you take the information and make it your own simple drawstring bag from scraps.  Be sure to share your creations with me on the Facebook page.
