This Month’s Sew Along Blocks

Are you enjoying Aunt Em’s Sew Along Adventure?  If not, it’s not to late to join.  Here are the sew along blocks we will be making this month.

We have two different square in a square blocks.  First a traditional square in a square set on point.  This block is set in the corner opposite the hourglass block we made last month.  It will finish the framing of our center tree block.  Which I did with cool colors; blues, greens, and violets.

Next we have a log cabin style square in a square.  I used this simple block to give this border a variegated stitch feel.  As we go up and across the quilt for the second time.

Because I love pinwheels for the playful movement.  You know I had to include them in the quilt.  With these and the log cabin square in a square warm colors were my choice; yellows, reds, and oranges.

The final block we will make this month is a scrappy spool block.  Here I sew strip sets in classic crayon box colors to make my the thread on my spool.

Each of these sew along blocks are scrap and stash friendly.  They are cheerful and happy.  I always sew with bright happy scraps.  But I find that doing this through the winter keeps those winter blues at bay.  Get all the pattens and join the fun.  Plus discover more creative ways to play with your scraps.  Don’t miss out!  Your scrappy adventure awaits.
