Inspired by Sajata Shah’s Organized Chaos I created Nautical Nights. I loved how she had extended the points on the kaleidoscopes to create a sort of mariner’s compass. I added a sort of wonky friendship star as a alternate block. I had some issues with fabric placement to make the round around the mariner’s compass. In fact I was quilting it when I found one was not right. Rather than unpick almost everything, I appliqued the correct wedge over the wrong one. No one will ever know, right?
I choose fabrics from Moda lines; Collections for a Cause, Castlewood, and Paisley Park. I know these are not my usual colors but thought they went well with my theme.
Adding a pieced border to frame the whole thing. I do love a pieced border.

What a gorgeous quilt!
Stunning!
Beautiful! I love that pieced border. That blue really sets off all that lovely piecing.
That is incredible. I can see where fabric placement would be a nightmare, but it is really terrific.
