Scrappy Basket Blocks from your Bins

If you are looking for a fun way to tame your scrap bins.  Try these scrappy basket blocks.  I’ve included a traditionally pieced basket as well as a wonky, free pieced basket.  Giving you the freedom to play in your style.

First the traditionally pieced basket, it is made using half square triangles.  I like to use my AccuQuilt Go to cut these.  It save wear and tear on my wrist.  Plus it’s fast, easy and accurate.  I used rick rack for the handle. You could also use bias tape.  Learn how to make it here.

If you want a no rules, free form basket.  This next basket is for you.  It is small and sweet.  Perfect for those little bits in your scrap bins.  A single strip is inserted in the background for the handle.  If you like this style of basket you may enjoy this tutorial.

Both of these basket block patterns are free for members inside Aunt Em’s Sew Along Adventure.  This month inside the Adventure we will also be making a sweet churn dash block

As well as a this sweet block that when combined with it’s sisters makes a cute pinwheel star.
