Tuesday Tutorial ~ Ornaments

There are so many fun ornaments to make. I’ve received or made many of these and thought it would be to share them here today. Each one is simple to make. In fact, it would be fun to make with children as an activity at a Christmas party.

First up, grab leftover yarn bits to make festive little stocking caps.  Make memories with your family that will last for years.  You can find the link to make them here.

Next, try a cinnamon stick Christmas tree from left over ribbon.  The young girls at my church had a delightful time making these sweet smelling ornaments. I’ve also made them using scrappy fabric strips and grapevine from my backyard. I like the way the frayed fabric strips gave these ornaments a rustic feel. The tutorial can be found here.

You may also like these stars.  They are a little tricky, but could be made by older children. I’ve heard that using spray starch to press your fabric when folding it makes them easier to make.  My guild spent an afternoon learning how to make, these thanks to Ruth. The tutorial can be found here.

Finally, these scrappy hearts make a color ornament.  I like to make mine from crumb fabric. But a favorite print could be used instead. Get the heart template here.  Enjoy the quick and easy tutorial.

I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful time of year. Good luck on all your preparations for the big day. Try to find a little down time to sew, create and maybe find a little time to make a few ornaments.
